Sept 21: I had a first meeting with Interactive Futures coordinators and staffs. They discussed about the internship positions and tasks and asked me which one I was interested in. I was interested in helping Wendi who is an IF executive assistant. I will be dealing with the IF conference preparation, registration, set up and catering.
Sept 23: I had a meeting with Julie (Head of IF) and Wendi. We discussed about what are specific tasks that I could do right away. First task is to design name tag and T-shirt for IF staffs.
Sept 29: I met Megan (co-intern) to discuss about the materials for both name tags and T-shirts.
Sept 30: I had a meeting with Julie and Megan. Unfortunately, Wendi could not come because she was sick. First of all, we discuss about my name tag design. Julie suggested me to change the size of IF logo on the top right corner of the name tag. I should make it smaller and also move it to another bottom left corner. I also should try to print the design out because it is to determine from the digital file. Julie also suggested me to try to use the IF O9 square shape as the format of the name tag.
After discussed about the name tag design, Megan brought up the idea of doing laminated name tags. She talked about the price and who would be assist us with the laminating process. Lastly, we discussed about the T-shirt design. I came up the result that we will provide black T-shirt for IF staffs during the conference. We also will do the form for people to fill up about sizes. In term of design, we will do screen printing at the back of each T-shirt by using IF 09 logo. It will be placed in center.
Oct 6: Had a meeting at Maria’s office. Today Julie suggested me about the nametag design and assigned me to print some proofs for IF poster and nametags. I went to DOC and met with Carlos and he helped me to prints those proofs.
Oct7: Had a meeting with Megan and Julie. Julie assigned me to do some experiments about the template design for signs and to design a banner for IF , “Now in Stereo!”. I also had to measure the wall of left side of IDS entrance. Besides, we discussed about the T-shirt design and who would be doing the screen printing. Finally, we got 2 classmates who know how to print. And we decided to use the same color for the facilitor’s name tag as well as IF 09′s logo for the T-shirt. After the meeting, I and Diana (one of my classmate) went to get the proof poster and name tag at DOC together. The poster looks really good but the paper is too thin ( 70 lb. text weight) though. Julie told me to do another proof and choose the thicker paper (70/80 lb cover weight). For the name tag, it is a bit too big and the color is not right. So I had to fix it.
Oct13: Had a meeting @ Maria’s office with Julie, Megan, Wendi, Simon, Erdam and Maria and discussed about the IF progress. We discussed about the budget for artists who is coming to display their artworks in the Concord Gallery and thought about how many IF posters that we have to prints.
Oct 14: Went to DOC to print proofs for IF’s poster and name tags.
Oct 15: Met Megan and discussed about the template design and T-shirt. Then we went to T-shirt company.
Oct 20 : Had a meeting with IF co-workers to discussed about the progress. Today, Julie assigned me to print posters.
Oct 21 : Discussed with Julie about IF’ banner and templates and how to send posters out by mailing. We decided to get some tubes and mail them.
Oct 26 : Mailed the IF’s posters at ECUAD’s mail room. [I actually went there last Friday and the lady who works there, she suggested me to type mailing addresses on template and get them printed. But the only problem was I could not print them at school I had to go print them out side the school. I felt it was too complicated because just sending mails. And these posters needed to be sent out quickly. So I decided to write on the templates instead but I finally realized that the templates were too small. So I just wrote on the tubes.] Designed arrows for way finding signs, templates for Registration, Orientation and Stereo Glass sign.
Oct 27 : Had meeting with IF staffs. They discussed about how the conference preparation has been done so far. Erdem showed interesting artists who are going to exhibit their artworks during the conference. Wendi suggested me to add one more way finding sign around the media art gallery and the stairs where is near it. She also suggested to provide name tags for sponsors who are coming to the conference. They will be in the attendee group (white background).
Today , I also showed the printed name tag to Julie. Finally, she liked it. This makes me relief because I tried so hard to make it work. Finally !!! It approved today. However, another thing that I am to worry about is T-shirt. The conference is happening soon.
Oct 28: Met with Julie after class showed her arrow designs, T-shirt mock up and IF banners. For the banners and signs, she suggested me to use all the same font style as the IF’s poster which is “Trade Gothic”. Another thing for the banners, she wanted me to go to talk with Carlos about the price and it is possible that we can print 3 banners together in one price of paper ( I mean vinyl cut). I definitely have to find out about it.
For T-shirt, she want the logo smaller and me to do sample stencil for a screen printing. She also wanted me to order T-shirts as soon as possible.
For templates, she suggested me to go see slanted sign holder at Staples. I went there and took some photos and sent to her. Julie decided to get a horizontal holder.
Oct 30: I went to order T-shirts. It was a bit crazy, I guess. Because they don’t have some sizes in stock so I had to make a decision how can I make an order and everyone will be able to wear all T-shirts.
